Painting and Planning your Future

May 4, 2016 by Maureen Crimmins Leave a Comment

Painting a masterpiece has become available to all!  The new craze in activities is focused on painting classes for those who have never taken an art class (or at least have not painted in years).  Some of these new businesses have combined the painting with some wine and cheese and are available for individuals and groups.  Sounds like a perfect combination!

My “Masterpiece”

The concept of teaching novices to paint a landscape or portrait may seem impossible.  However, after taking a watercolor class myself, I can attest to the success of creating my own version of a masterpiece.  A teacher guides you step by step with instructions on colors, techniques and tricks to make your painting a success.  It starts with a simple line of color in the middle and with each step and guidance of the instructor, the painting starts to evolve.

The amazing part is that everyone is trying to draw the same painting, yet at the end, they all look slightly different.  One may have more color or a different shape to the object, but you need to look closely to notice the differences.

It reminds me of financial planning.  There are many different facets that you need to be successful in your planning.  And each step relies on the other.  You start with a blank canvas and begin with the basics and with each completed step your vision starts to become apparent.  But without a little guidance from a professional, it may be difficult to achieve the desired results.

With a financial planner, each step should be discussed and personalized to your situation.  And just like the painting, the plans will all have different personalized variations.     Your life is unique and so the planning should reflect your personal goals.

Using a financial planner who can guide you will allow you to create your own masterpiece.  What can be more fulfilling than that?
