“Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something.”
Winnie the Pooh
One of my favorite pastimes is going to the movies and no one likes a children’s movie more than I do. I’m not sure if this fact is worth disclosing, but I believe some of the best life lessons are learned from children’s movies.
This past weekend I indulged myself by going to see the movie Christopher Robin in the theatre. It is quite hard to compete with a Winnie the Pooh movie and this new one did not disappoint. One of the recurring quotes by Winnie the Pooh made me think about financial planning and our philosophy on investing.
The quote from the famous Winnie the Pooh….
Doing nothing often leads to the very best of something.
This is not to imply that our investing policy is to do nothing. Our belief is that your behavior will affect the outcome of your investments. In this media driven world, where negativity seems to rule the sentiment, it is difficult to stay focused and disciplined with your plan. The ability to “do nothing” becomes quite hard.
At Crimmins Wealth Management, we work with you to create a plan to benefit your needs and opportunities for the future. This plan takes into consideration a number of factors to achieve your goals with a major component being the ability to withstand the ups and downs of the stock markets. Once your plan is in place, the significant challenge is to not panic and change your plan when the markets are fluctuating. This can make a major impact on your ability to achieve the goals that you have established with your investment portfolio.
While “doing nothing often leads to the very best of something”. The something being a successful journey for the future with your investment planning. Staying the course is often the most difficult aspect of successful investing. History has shown that the fluctuations in the market are normal and frequent, and the ability to not react to these fluctuations is the most beneficial for your portfolio.
Your plan should be reviewed annually and any major life changes discussed so that your plan can provide you with the future that you envision.
