Enjoy the Benefits of Financial Planning: Live Younger Next Year

You need to plan for a 3+ decade retirement.  This generally comes as a surprise to most people the first time they hear it, but modern medicine continues to extend people’s lives well beyond what their parents experienced.   As a reminder, the average non-smoking man and woman retiring at the U.S. average retirement age of 62 years old, should plan for one of the couple – and most likely the woman – to be living into their mid-90s and beyond.

And while planning for this extended retirement from a financial standpoint is possible, you also have to make other adjustments as you approach this extended stage of your life.  This unprecedented length of retirement will have a major impact on you physically as well.

Helping them get a clearer picture of their desired future requires – not just understanding how long their retirement will likely last, but also helping them plan for this experience in an overall way.  In that regard, we strongly recommend that all pre-retirees and new retirees get their hands on an amazing book.

The book is titled: “Younger Next Year: Live Strong, Fit, and Sexy – Until You’re 80 and Beyond”  by Chris Crowley, and Dr. Henry Lodge”. Okay – the title is a bit much, but the contents can be life altering. The book  highlights what we will need to do – not just to live longer, but to live in the best health possible.

The book is co-authored by Chris Crowley who made the changes to his life to allow him to continue to have a physically productive life throughout retirement,  and how he was able to accomplish it with the help of his doctor.  His doctor – Dr. Henry Lodge – is a leading physician on the science of aging.

Together, they discuss the transformation which naturally occurs in the body as you age and how you can work to combat these aging effects.  They describe why it is very important to continue to exercise rather rigorously to offset the effect of aging on the body.

The book can be purchased used for under $9 for an paperback book on Amazon .  There is also a version written specifically for women.  It will be well-worth the money and time to read.

Ultimately, all of us will need to adjust to a new monumental change that is occurring for all humans.  It requires not only an understanding regarding the duration of the modern retirement from the financial aspect, but also from a primary aspect of doing all we can do to protect our health through this extended last phase of our lives.

For while modern health profession has given us great medicines to combat all of the aliments that we may actually face, the

Ben Franklin proverb about

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”  still applies.

Here’s to your continued good health!
